SEBG welcome executive's integrated tourism plans
21st November 2005The Scottish Estates Business Group, which represents progressive rural estates in Scotland, today welcomed The Scottish Executive's commitment to an integrated tourism strategy.
Andrew Bruce Wootton, deputy chairman of SEBG, said: "It is encouraging to see tourism being given such a high priority. It is clear to us that an increasing number of people are coming into the countryside to enjoy Scotland's superb natural and built heritage and we must not underestimate the hugely significant economic benefit that country sports and fishing also bring to the Scottish economy. This is all happening because of a combined effort from a host of organisations ranging from VisitScotland to the smallest private rural business. Tourism is a massive jigsaw and the more that can be done to enhance the tourism product the better.
"Earlier this year we launched 'Enjoy Estates', a website that showcases the wide range of tourism attractions that estates in Scotland offer. Our collaboration in this area has paid dividends and we are therefore confident that the Minister’s call for greater co-operation and integration can only benefit the industry.”
Notes to editors:
