Agricultural Holdings commencement date welcomed by Estates

November 2003/TBC

Following today's announcement by the Scottish Executive that Parts 1 and 3 to 8 of the Agricultural Holdings (Scotland) Act would be operational before the November 28 the Scottish Estates Business Group (SEBG) has welcomed the progress made in ensuring that the Act is in place in time. Sandy Lewis, Chairman of SEBG, said: "We are relieved and encouraged that the Executive have managed to get the Act in place for November 28, the date which will allow the new letting vehicles to come into operation.

"There are some practical measures in the Bill that are of concern but SEBG hopes they will be resolved through the Tenant Farming Forum - the establishment of which has been helpful in co-ordinating industry views."
